A Bit About Me

In 1991, my hairstyling journey began at Vidal Sassoon, marking the third generation in my family dedicated to this profession. Sassoon's tutelage instilled not just technical skills but also a commitment to innovation. Transitioning into editorial work allowed me to express creativity beyond the salon, shaping the trends of the industry. This period laid the foundation for my venture into education, where teaching became a fulfilling endeavor, guiding aspiring hairstylists through their own discoveries. Driven by a desire to understand hairstyling comprehensively, I delved into photography, capturing hairstyles' essence in visuals that adorned industry publications. Exploring the scientific realms of L'Oréal deepened my understanding of the science-artistry relationship, leading to entrepreneurship in Hanwell, West London. My salon, a haven for creativity, stands as a focal point for personalized and innovative hairstyling, integrating in-house products and fostering an environment of growth. The legacy of three generations continues, evolving with each client, product, and inspired stylist, fueled by a passion for the craft and dedication to shaping hair and careers.

Our roots

Tangles was originally founded in 1987

At 16, a German aspiring hairdresser found himself on an unexpected journey when World War II erupted. Joining the German Air Force, he underwent basic flight training in France before being stationed in the Channel Islands. Fate took a turn when he was shot down, leading to his capture and transfer to a prison of war camp in Scotland. Amidst challenges, he was later relocated to an American bomber base in Lincolnshire. Here, his skills as a barber surfaced when American soldiers discovered his talent. Not only did he become the go-to barber on the base, but he also found love in the form of the farmer's daughter. Post-war, he and his newfound love moved to Hanwell, England, where they realized their dream of opening a hair salon. Three generations later, their family remains an integral part of the business, a testament to resilience, love, and the enduring artistry of hairstyling that began amid the trials of wartime.
